That was the question. My first day in Xavier University High School is
an image of a sea of students resembling more of a market of mismatched outfits paired with thick-soled Nike running shoes than a gathering of sweet, pre-pubescent Ateneans.

It was worse, I guess, on the second day of air max sale orientation week. Freshmen and upperclassmen were already told to be in their official school uniforms: specifically, the navy blue jumper and white blouse dotted with blue God-knows-what ensemble for the ladies, white polo embroidered with the XU seal and navy blue slacks attire for the gentlemen, immaculately clean white socks, and leather shoes.
I have always hated uniforms. To a teenager like me, they are an institution’s subtle way of shackling you to their demands and suppressing your creativity in nike air max the hopes that you grow up as boring as the rest of humanity.
However, recently, I opened my Facebook account only to be bombarded with images of a new set of uniforms for incoming Grade 8 students of XUHS. Gone are the navy blueness, to be replaced with a yellowish sort of brown; adieu to the jumpers, to be replaced with pencil air max uk skorts as uncomfortable as 18th century corsets and long sleeves that seem to have forgotten the Philippine climate. There is a saying that goes, “What boys can do, girls can do better.” In the case of polo shirts and ties, the girls have certainly nailed that statement.
